In the northeast, Health Net was formed from the
combination of Physician Health Services and three
other highly regarded health plans -- First Option
Health Plans of New Jersey, M.D. Health Plan of Connecticut
and QualMed Plans for Health in Pennsylvania -- into
a strong regional health plan operating under the
PHS Health Plans banner. The company adopted the Health
Net name in 2001.
